1930’s Teen Delinquents

i.e. life role models

I’m just gonna reblog this again because it’s one of my favorite pictures ever.
That girl in the chair seems like such a badass I bet she was the leader of the crew.

I want to write about these girls.

When I was a teenager my mother found my grandmother’s (her mother) school scrapbook. It included things like photos, notes, and a two page spread of every demerit she ever received over the course of her formal education. Each of them set aside with little tags like she was so fucking proud of them. They were all for things like, “Unladylike behavior” or, “Skirt too short” or, “refuses to listen to authority”. I loved that spread so much.

I always have to reblog this.

An 11-year-old enduring racism….

This adorable kid, nicknamed  ”The Golden Mariachi” was the topic of racist Tweets when he sang the National Anthem at Game 3 of the NBA finals in San Antonio.

11-year-old Sebastien De La Cruz was asked to sing when the scheduled performer, Darius Rucker, failed to show up. Sebastian became a local celebrity after he made it to the semifinals of America’s Got Talent. And this kid has chops, completely nailing the National Anthem.

Then the racist Tweets started flooding in. Here’s an example of a few of those Tweets.

Despicable right? Here’s what Sebastian has to say about his “haters:”

"I knew that one day when I sing that people were going to judge me," he told Fox San Antonio. “That’s why over the time I’ve grown, I’ve learned that you don’t really care what people say about you, it’s what you think about yourself.”

Hell yeah Sebastian! I fully support you! And for those racist idiots, take a hike.

so we try to be american and they hate us for it.

notice how the tweets are from predominately Hispanic/Latin/Mexica users.. we do have inner cultural racism here.
